Entirely made on a low budget, I created the menswear using a tailors manual from the period, and womenswear drafted based on extant garments. As the show progresses, we can observe the wealth disparity between characters through their wardrobes. Felix only owns one suit, but makes the best of it with different shirts. Eddie, on the other hand has multiple changes due to the feast-and-famine finances his gambling habit provides. I focused on tone and texture to keep the costumes interesting in black and white.

Felix is the hero of the story, or at least he would like to think so. After the death of his parents, he and his sister Elizabeth struggle financially, but Felix hopes that his next invention will be the one that changes the world. Felix can only afford one suit so he switches out accessories like hats, collars, and ties to keep his look fresh.

Elizabeth is Felix’s long suffering sister. She works as a nurse and keeps Felix from hurting himself too badly. She owns one suit that is slightly out of date, and a newer skirt.

Dr. Haddington is Felix’s arrogant boss. He is a wealthy widower who keeps his expensive wardrobe pristine.

Eddie is Felix’s best friend. He is a gambler and a flirt, and spends a lot on his clothes. He prefers a rugged set of jeans and a duster coat that he knows will survive his rough and tumble lifestyle.

Jane, Dr. Haddington’s daughter, is an aspiring actress. She keeps up her appearance with the latest fashion made in the finest fabrics.
